Our political climate still deteriorates and I still fear what might come of me in the next few years if I stay in the United States. Some who live in California have admitted I will not be completely safe there, but I would still find it safer there than other places. Regardless, the conversation of the despotic state of our world this abhorrent timeline in which we live must go on.

I recently joined a watch party for EuroVision. I had not paid attention to such for years, but I had just before the watch party started to learn about the potential of events being rigged for publicity of a country. Despite this, I saw many Eastern European and West and Central Asian finalists. Seeing this, I felt torn on whether to watch or not, and opted to do so.

Update: Climbing From A Descent As An Empire Falls (Part VII)

I could talk about my continued existential dead I feel and how I am wondering if I will survive the next few years. These feelings linger and persist no matter how much I try to reframe the situation this empire delivering its death knell has wrought upon its people. Perhaps I may address such again soon, seeing I am behind on my once a week blog post goal I had set for myself to return a writing habit after years of falling off in so many ways.

For now, I will talk about something else. The topic is not new, my words are not unique, and yet the subject ever remains relevant: cultural appropriation. Specifically, I am addressing cultural appropriation in the dance scene.

Update: Climbing From A Descent As An Empire Falls (Part VI)

The last of the three references who my prospective future employer requested had reached out to me and said they recently talked and it seemed a good discussion. I know by this point, some would say this is a sign of hope or that I have the job already. Because of how things have begun this year, though, I have that egging voice in my head saying: don’t give me hope. Just in case, I already had looked at some housing and picked ones I would really consider.

Lo and behold, now we are undergoing salary negotiations.

I do not know, of course, if my ideal homes will be available if I ever get an offer by the time I need it, especially with my salary under discussion still.
