Update: Climbing From A Descent As An Empire Falls (Part II)

I have been meaning to make a post like this for a few months. Projects kept burying me. Life kept happening. Then I got sick and found that something I had partially suspected confirmed, of someone having not just ghosted me by accident but intentionally so but in a manner that had also meant pretending nothing wrong to my face (but behind my back another matter). Such might not bother me so much except some years ago, the person spoke to me as a friend and said as much to others when I thought something off and I gave distance; so my betrayal traumas had been hit regardless of any intent. It had led me to research the phenomenon called ‘ghostlighting,’ defined as exactly what it sounds to some: ghosting combined with gaslighting, which has become more common online because of the lack of accountability online allows. Nonetheless, such issues are just specks of sand in a beach of grains representing all the problems in the world, and I wish to address these other grains in this post, instead.

Update: Climbing From A Descent As An Empire Falls (Part I)

I just recently returned from Gary Con, a Roleplaying Game Convention named after Gary Gygax. First and foremost, I want to say that I love Dungeons & Dragons with all of my heart, but anyone who had read some of my past blog posts know I recognize the legacy as not problem free. In kind, Gygax is someone who I am first to say far from problem-free, yet my attendance meant I supported many gamers, including wholesome authors and people of marginalized backgrounds. This experience became a life changing event for me in more ways than I can even do justice with in one or more blog posts. So I will start my summarizing of events I had gone through this past two to three years with this latest happening.

Some Good News? Library of Congress Subject Headings

There is some bittersweet news that came the past few weeks, that I had yet to address.

To be clear, I am downplaying how yucky I still feel over the latest current events regarding the verdict of the Rittenhouse case. My game-scheduled event was also unpleasant because I was still trying to recover. Nonetheless, I am on the lookout for future protests I can go in opposition to white supremacy and this country’s direction, especially hearing that our current president seems to act like things are working as intended (instead of disappointed in how things should be). Yes, people have told me it is risky now, but I need to do the right thing (even if imperfectly). It is neither the first nor last protesting I can and do because of the consequences of silence.

In light of this news, in addition to the gaming community starting to show hints of resistance to white supremacy, my profession is starting to, as well.
