The publisher had an editor follow up with my concerns that I discussed in my previous post, on When Authors Have Limited/No Rights. Fortunately, it has been a pleasant discussion and they were curious about the portions I had an issue with and I pointed out which ones, and explained my issue. They did mention that I gave up my rights to my work in the contract, which is definitely the case, but I also pointed out an email where they said they were going to let me take a look at the work before a submission. So, my latest post led to response about how I focused a lot on my pain to where I came across as seeking attention for my post regarding my thoughts on Kyle Rittenhouse. Many white allies understood that I tied it to the bigger picture that addresses systemic abuse and the past decades to the now. I intended to address what people could or could not get away with, so I centered black, indigenous, and people of color (BIPOC) a lot. Here is another update, everyone! I did say I am going to try harder to keep up with the blog activity.
First, I added a new story called A “Tribal” Look: What Does That Really Mean? It is not a unique critique or discussion, really, but it feels like it has not been had enough. In an ideal world, I would not want it to happen. Yet, some of the same stereotypes in pop-culture, media, and video gaming seem still perpetuated. I promise anything negative said in here is said with love and a place of hoping to increase understanding on a topic!
